Can I recycle your bags?

As a company that is committed to sustainable practices, we're so glad you're curious about recycling our packaging! The short answer is: not yet.

Our bags are made of 100% BPA-free, non-GMO and food-safe multi-layered plastic film. Due to the nature of our products not having preservatives and stabilizers our packaging must adhere to strict moisture, UV, and oxygen barriers to ensure product safety and quality. At this time, unfortunately, the technology for recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable packaging cannot withstand these barriers over the shelf life of our products, thereby compromising the product.

We are working hard with our partners to find a more responsible packaging solution. Until a viable compostable option becomes available, we are actively transitioning all our packaging to post-consumer resin (PCR). The Association of Plastic Recycling reported that by using recycled resins you can reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by 79% for PET, 88% for HDPE, and 88% for PP. Current limitations will allow for 38% PCR in our packaging, but we are hoping for 60% by the end of 2023.

Stay tuned for further developments in our packaging innovation!
